Trainer: Aaron Malton from Rose Bay
In February 2014, Aaron, uncertain of his future after his dream of becoming a professional footballer in the UK failed to materialise and having spent time packing flowers in a warehouse, moved to Australia with just £6,000 in his pocket. After securing a Personal Trainer role at Vision Personal Training Rose Bay within just a few weeks of arriving in Sydney. Aaron knew that this opportunity could change his life, create a lasting legacy, and provide him with the lifestyle he had always dreamed of.
His commitment and passion quickly shone through, and within just four months, he was working over 40 hours a week.
Aaron's dedication to becoming the best trainer he could be was evident. He immersed himself in every learning resource available, won numerous referral competitions and 9-week challenges, and even achieved the remarkable feat of securing 7 referrals in a single month. His skills were evident from the start, as he converted 9 of his first 10 initial consultations into ongoing clients.
By October 2015, just 20 months into his role, Aaron’s hard work and talent were recognized as he was promoted to Studio Manager. Under his leadership, the business flourished, growing from $15,000 per week to an impressive $27,000 per week. His success did not go unnoticed, and the previous owner offered him the chance to buy into the business as a 50% partner. Aaron initially declined but was soon presented with an opportunity to purchase 100% of the business.
Determined to seize this chance, Aaron spent the next year saving for the deposit, investing his wages in marketing and studio upgrades. On July 1, 2019, Aaron became the sole owner and Managing Director of Vision PT Rose Bay.
However, the path was not always smooth. Just eight months later, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, causing a significant setback as the business lost 45% of its revenue within three months. Despite this, Aaron's resilience and strategic thinking led the business to recover its losses within just two months post-lockdown.
After 18 months and enduring two lockdowns, Aaron promoted a Senior Trainer to Manager and transitioned into a non-managing Director role. When the newly promoted Manager resigned after two years, Aaron stepped back into the business for three months to train the next leader, Benny. Under Benny’s management, the business continued to thrive, growing from $23,000 to $30,000 in just one year.
It has now been more than three years since Aaron stepped out of the day-to-day operations of the business. Vision PT Rose Bay continues to thrive and grow independently, a testament to Aaron's success in creating a sustainable and self-sufficient business. Aaron views this as his greatest achievement—building a business that flourishes without his constant presence.
Today, Aaron and Benny maintain communication through daily management reports, occasional texts, and monthly meetings. Aaron’s next goal is to partner with Benny as a minority shareholder in his business. Meanwhile, the next Manager of Rose Bay is already in training, ensuring a seamless transition for the future.
Aaron’s journey is a powerful example of how dedication, perseverance, and strategic thinking can transform a career and build a lasting legacy.
