Group Exercise
Anyone who knows my story will tell you just how big a part Group Exercise, my friends and family have and continue to be.
I started with a goal of losing a significant amount of weight - I can't give you a figure, as it was too big to even contemplate losing. I lost some weight and started feeling slightly less self-conscious and mentioned to Chris my Trainer I might give cross training a go.
Without telling me, he had a quiet word with the relevant trainer and advised he may need to modify the class slightly for me. I wasn't brave enough to go but still turned up to my own training (as normal) the next morning at 5.15am. Chris asked how cross training had been and I had to confess I hadn't gone but the following week I did go and haven't looked back, EVER.
Surprise, surprise, I found a group of likeminded people, all doing the same thing as me! Getting fitter and healthier, through moving a bit more, and even more surprisingly - having fun and making friends while doing it. My kids were a huge part in helping me get started and their continued support at coming with me to cross training, walk group, boxing, fun runs, swims, cycles endlessly inspires me and motivates me.
So, fast forward six years and hundreds of Group Exercise classes later, I wanted to say thank you to a group of friends who make my day - so very, very often, as they still exercise with me at cross training, in a cycling event, in an open water swim or on a bush walk. Imagine if I had never gone to my very first class, how much harder would my journey have been and there wouldn't have been anyone with me at so many milestones.
If it feels like you've tried 'everything' in the past and been on the never-ending yoyo diet treadmill, come and try something different like I did and start your journey towards a happier and healthier you!
