I'm not a fan of the gym. Well, let me rephrase that - I'm not a fan of the gym in the traditional sense. I find the large, impersonal centres filled with rows of complicated weights machines intimidating and uninspiring. I've had gym memberships in the past where I would go to the gym a few times and then would find excuses of being too tired after work not to go, with the monthly membership fees draining my bank account. I've pursued yoga and pilates when I was in my twenties which I really enjoyed. After having my 2 beautiful daughters 12 years ago, I struggled to find the time and motivation to pursue regular exercise again.
About 3 years ago, my father had a heart attack. He thankfully recovered and is doing ok but the shock of being faced with such a close call made me take stock of my own health and keeping myself well for my daughters and my husband. I was in my early 40s at the time, not exercising regularly and frustrated by my low strength and energy as a full time working mum sitting at a computer all day.
My husband Lukasz is a member of the Vision studio in the city and is dedicated to his exercise training. We had discussed a plan for exercise for me following my father's health scare but life got in the way and I couldn't seem to get organised to schedule in a regular exercise routine. Lukasz was fed up by my inaction and so spoke with the manager at the Vision studio he attended to connect with Sarah at Vision Wahroonga. A couple of days later, I received a call from Sarah and she suggested I come in for a chat. And so began my strength training obsession in mid 2022!
I train twice a week for 30 minutes with my wonderful trainers Mel and Arkar. Mel and Arkar are the perfect combination of trainers and beautifully complement each other, allowing me to focus on training my lower body with Mel and my upper body with Arkar. Mel and Arkar push me hard (I never say no to their suggestions of an extra drop set or a new exercise for fear of shame)
