The first question you need to ask yourself is "What type of cardio do I want to do?" the second is "when is the best time for me to work out?"

People aske me all the time is cross fit better than spinning, or is f45 better than circuit training and the answer is they are all pretty much the same. What you prefer is what counts. My advice when commiting to a training programe is make it work for you. There will always be a new fad and new concepts that send shock waves over the fitness industry and leave every other concept in its wake but it really is not that complicated.

The best form of cardio is anything that gets your heart rate up. Low to moderate cardio burns less energy overall but the energy you burn comes mainly from fat. Hight intensity cardio burns more energy over all but that energy mainly comes from Carbohydrate stors in your body. Whats best? A combination of both. Spending all your time doing low to moderate is un likely to get you to where you want to be and too muct high intensity cardio will eventually take its toll on your body and break you. The best combination would be 70/30 or 80/20. The heart is the most important muscle in the body so its important that you get that pumping, regardless of your body type or goal.

If you put weight on easily and naturally carry a bit then it would be a good idea to do more low to moderate cardio with one or two High intensity sessions and 2 sessions of full body weights per week. By doing this, you should start to see a bit of a change in your body compostion providing you get your nutrition right!

If your naturaly slim and have a high metabolism then less low to moderate cardio and more high intensity cardio would be best but less cardio overall and more weights.

These guidlines are very vague as we are all different. Every one of us. Thats why a Body type analysis is important to ensure you get the programe that best suits you!

The bottome line is humans are meant to move. So get out there and get that heart pumping ! its good for you!

Enjoy!
