My name is Rachel Macedo, I am a mother of 3, wife and owner of 2 businesses. Before joining Vision Personal Training 3 years ago I always thought I was a healthy eater who trained regularly 3 times a week at another gym. Oh boy! was I wrong ... So then began my journey at Vision Personal Training.
All I knew was they helped people achieve goals and kick habits (I didn't think I had any bad habits and I didn't really have any goals in mind at the time) but what I didn't realise that in the first 9 weeks I would learn things about my body and mind that would be the beginning of a new me! Weight Loss for me has not only been a physical challenge but also a mental challenge. I discovered that all my new healthy habits have made a positive impact on every aspect of my busy life. Now with a 26 kilo weight loss, 3 years later it is still off, the system and accountability Vision has is guaranteed.
I had heard about nutrition sessions and shopping tours before but when I experienced it for myself the pieces of the puzzle started to fall into place. They have helped me realise that mindset and headspace is key to success, bad habits like picking at your kid's food and lack of water, grabbing takeaway because of poor preparation are just little things that I did, I didn't realise what effect they were having. I achieved running goals that I never thought were possible, being Part of the City to Surf and the Blackmores Sydney Half Marathon is an experience I will never forget and the support I had during the race was amazing!
At the studio, all the trainers and people are so motivating, everyone is happy and friendly, everyone is there for the same reason to contribute to each other's success...because of this my passion for nutrition and fitness grew stronger which took my journey further again...so at the start of the year I decided to study "How to be a Personal Trainer " by enrolling at AIPT. I was excited and nervous about starting something new, this goal was huge! (More mental challenges to overcome again) but 5 months later the course was complete and I was still "hungry" for more! My favourite quote is "Knowledge is of no value unless you put it into practice"
So I took the next step, risking my current work, lifestyle and family balance and applied for a Personal Trainer position at the Vision Personal Training Wollongong. First up I was put on an experience program which I loved, even the 5am starts were not deterring or slowing me down, then within a few weeks I was offered a position on the Vision Mentee program.
I was bursting with excitement but what was even better was the support shown from all the current clients/fellow gym buddies, everyone was and still is so supportive ... it's mind blowing! Being on the other side of the fence now (so to speak) has given me a great appreciation and gratitude into what the daily life of a Personal Trainer is like, serving and training clients is definitely the highlight of the role and the most rewarding. I am definitely passionate about being a key person of influence to others around me who embark on their journey to success to a healthier happier lifestyle.
My experience as a Personal Trainer may just be new at the moment, but my experience in being an emotional eater whose problems were solved by eating whole blocks of chocolate is very extensive. I have experienced the highs and lows of weight loss. I have extensive experience in training for runs, lifting heavy weights, wanting to quit when it gets too hard yet wanting to scream from roof tops when I achieve a goal... and now my passion lies with others and wanting to experience this with them. If I can inspire change a person's life, that helps them live another 20 years longer with their family and loved ones then my work is complete.
I'm excited for my next chapter .... who's with me ?
