An interesting Article has just come to my attention, and for those participating in the 9 week challenge, the information within this article could be extremely beneficial! This is what I have taken away from it: Most women believe that for slimming purposes that heavier weight training must be avoided as opposed to lighter weights in conjunction with cardiovascular exercises (which might I add is also crucial in your weight loss journey). It is common misconceptions like these that are ultimately hindering your results.

Here are the facts;

Fact #1. Undertraining is better than no training at all, lets get that straight. However, undertraining or not training to your full potential can present you with little to no weight loss benefits. Demanding compound, multi - joint exercises such as squat, deadlift, benchpress and chinup's are going to be some of the most useful tool's in your battle against your body fat, so giving these exercise your 100% effort is going to provide you with the results you desire.

Fact #2. Training at your repetition maximum produces results. For example if you are doing a set which requires 12 reps max, and you can perform 12, 13, or even 14, you aren't lifting enough! 12 means 12 and no more. If you are lifting half of what your body allows you, you are receiving very little training effect.

Fact #3. Rest period timing is a great asset within your arsenal. Resting no longer than 30 - 60 seconds can trigger a greater amount of GH (Growth Hormone) release which results in more muscle mass, and more fat burnt. This also allows for a greater volume of exercise to be carried out within the session!

Fact #4. Training variables are important. Whether it be repetitions, sets, exercises, or techniques used within training, variety is the spice of life, and variety will produce results and keep your body guessing.

Fact #5. Many women are afraid that heavier weights will lead to bulging muscles like in mens cases, however due to the lower levels of testosterone that women sustain, it is close to impossible to achieve a muscle size of that compared to most men.

Fact #6. If a toned bikini body is what you are looking for, weight training at least twice a week is the key to achieving your desired shape!
