At Vision, we emphasise that achieving your health and fitness goals is determined by 70% nutrition and 30% exercise. However, executing this plan consistently relies entirely on mindset, which constitutes the remaining 100% of your results. Many of us invest considerable time in crafting the perfect meal plan or workout regimen, yet if we can't stick to it, what's the benefit?

Numerous studies have established a robust connection between a positive mindset and achieving health and fitness objectives. So, how can we fortify our mindset and maintain discipline? The solution varies from person to person, but here are several strategies you can explore to discover the most effective approach for yourself.

Goal Setting and Visualisation

At Vision, we understand the significance of setting strong goals and creating a precise plan. That's why we conduct detailed goal sessions every nine weeks with our clients. These sessions delve deeply into your desired destination, the reasons driving your journey, and the strategies to achieve your goals. Without a clear vision of your destination and a strong understanding of why it matters to you, reaching your goals can become exceptionally challenging.

Once your goals are defined clearly, it becomes easier to visualise yourself reaching the finish line and firmly implant the belief that you can and will succeed. For instance, envisioning yourself crossing the finish line at your first event or slipping into your favourite pair of jeans serves as a powerful motivator.

Positive Self-Talk

It's crucial to maintain a positive outlook when discussing ourselves and our goals, as this can significantly boost self-confidence and belief. Continually criticising oneself can program the mind to doubt personal abilities and hinder progress toward becoming the person one aspires to be. Conversely, fostering positivity can strengthen self-confidence and belief, ultimately facilitating the achievement of personal milestones.

Changing one's mindset may prove challenging, but it begins with recognising negative thoughts and transforming them into affirming statements. Affirmations are an effective starting point to reinforce self-belief, such as affirming, "I am determined, worthy, and capable of achieving my goals."

Be Realistic

The goals should be realistic and feel achievable. If you have a significant long-term goal, it's essential to break it down into smaller, manageable stages. At Vision, we work with our clients to establish big-picture long-term goals and then break them into smaller nine-week blocks. This approach reduces overwhelm, enabling clients to celebrate incremental successes and cultivate the confidence that their goals are within reach.

Training the Mind

Similar to the body, the mind can be trained, and investing time in doing so will propel you forward not only in achieving your fitness goals but also in all areas of life. Our mindset determines our reality, so let's dedicate ourselves to cultivating a resilient, positive outlook.
