What is it that drives you to work out? Why do you wake up at 5am to get to your 5.30 am session? Why do you drop the kids off to the babysitters to make sure you have time to work out? Why do you meticulously track your macros all week? Why do you commit to follow your training plan?
At first instance, the answer is always around "for my general health" or "to lose weight".
But let's get a bit deeper here.
What is the true reason why you want to lose weight? What is that one moment or event that forced you to you make a conscious decision to say: This is it. I am ready for change.
When you understand the why behind your decision and communicate it to your Trainer, your Trainer will develop the HOW to get there. It is a Trainer's job to make sure they understand your goals and the reasons that they are your goals.
Do you workout because you want to become stronger both mentally and physically? Is it because you're tired of not being able to walk up a flight of stairs? Or is it because every time you walk past a mirror you can't look at yourself?
Whatever your WHY, your Trainer will make sure that in those tough moments (because we all have them), they remind you WHY you are here, WHY you are putting your body through this strenuous exercise, WHY you are sticking to macros all to make sure YOU stay motivated and stay focused on your goals.
A great Trainer will always be totally honest with you but for them to do their job properly, you have to put in effort too. Help them understand you better so that they can help you better. After all it's a 50/50 relationship, right?
