Over the past 10 years of being in the health and fitness industry, the clients who get the first step right in the journey, go on to lead a healthy lifestyle. There is no magic pill, potion or program unfortunately that will provide quick, easy and effortless lifestyle results. Vision Personal Training along with many other nutrition specialists suggest nutrition/eating habits are responsible for 70% of the result in achieving body shape change, while only 30% is attributed through exercise, though its 100% mindset.
Taking control of your attitude, you take control of your mind, which will then help you to take control of your health. Programming your mind for success is the most important step to make. There are four steps you need to allow for this.
You need to:
Be positive
Be positive, your subconscious thoughts generally manifest themselves physically. So feed your mind positive thoughts each day, you will most likely achieve success if you make those thoughts a reality. Ultimately, the difference between those who DON'T and those who DO, comes down to their ability to manifest a positive mindset.
Be prepared
In order to achieve your goals long term, you need to be prepared in many areas e.g. Committing to sessions with your PT is a great way to begin and maintain a new lifestyle. If your main goal is to improve your body shape, ensuring that you have good eating habits is the most critical part. First task is to simply remove all the unhealthy foods from the house that will tempt you.
Most of us have time to exercise though simply don't prioritise it. If you are truly ready to take care of your health, you need to be prepared to make exercise part of your lifestyle. Setbacks and relapses are a normal part of any change process. Accepting and embracing minor setbacks as being normal is important so you can jump straight back on course immediately and ensure that you don't undo all the hard work.
Be self motivated
Motivation can be broken down into two types. External and Internal/self-motivation
External motivation occurs when the motivation to achieve your goals comes from a source outside yourself, while internal/self-motivation occurs when your motivation to achieve your goals comes from within yourself. Self-motivation is determined by your own values, beliefs and goals.
Be self aware
Being self-aware of what causes you to turn to the wrong foods and when you do it is critical. e.g. Some people see chocolate as a great form of energy whilst others see chocolate as something that eases stress and provides comfort after a long day.
