Many of you will have goals related to general health, weight loss and fitness. It's exciting and motivating to see improvement and progress in different areas of your life.

You may feel frustrated not seeing your weight loss efforts reflected on the scales as quickly as you hoped, but you are now able to run 2km without stopping, having never run before coming to Vision.

One of the things I love most about working at Vision is the opportunity to participate in community events.

Have you ever participated in an event such as a charity walk or fun run?

The prospect of committing to an event can be quite daunting, but once you take the leap and register, you have a tangible goal to work towards.

I remember registering for my 1st triathlon 5 years ago and being terrified. Once I wrote the goal up on our Trainer Goals board, there was no turning back!

I have had the enjoyment of seeing many of our members experience the excitement and satisfaction of participating in an event. There is nothing more rewarding for a trainer than crossing the finish line of a 5 or 10km run with a member who could barely jog 100 metres, 3 months ago!

Many of our members have participated in running events such as the Lindfield Fun Run (5km/ 10km), the Pub2Pub (14km run), and Sydney Running Festival (4km, 9km, 21km), cycling events such as Spring Cycle (50km) and Gear Up Girl (60km) and Triathlon involving a swim, cycle and run of varying distances.

Attending our group classes, Run Club, Boxing & X-training, is a fun way to increase your fitness and socialise with like-minded members who may also be training for an event. Having a reason to train makes it more enjoyable, easier to stay motivated and harder to make excuses.

Telling your friends and family that you've registered for an event creates accountability and gives you an instant source of support.

Talk to your trainer about some upcoming events, come along to group classes, get involved, challenge yourself, believe you can achieve something you never thought possible.

Set yourself an event goal today! It could well be a life changing experience.
