Merry Christmas! The holidays are a great time to connect with family and friends and enjoy some well-deserved rest before launching into the New Year. But that doesn't mean you need to throw your Health and Fitness goals to the side like so much shredded wrapping paper or discarded tinsel! The VNB team brings some of its most valuable Holiday Health Hacks to the table to ensure you stay on track to achieving your goals over the holiday break. Read on and get ready for results!

Georgia says:

"Drink a giant glass of water before your big meals such as Christmas dinner to help you feel full and prevent overeating on all the potatoes."

Will says:

"Before going on holiday, locate a gym, walk track, or other exercise location that can be your go-to for your half hour of 'self-betterment time'. Also, prepare two healthy snacks you can make as part of your daily routine. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!"

Clint says:

"Try and do some exercise before brekky. 45 minutes gets you into the fat-burning zone. A walk or a light run is always a great way to start the day, and if on holiday it's great sight-seeing time."

Ruby says:

"Don't lose momentum because of the silly season. Use your time off to energise yourself with new and fun activities. Get the family active, count your steps, a different routine doesn't mean an excuse to stop striving to be better!"

Nick says:

"Movement daily - keep momentum and feeling good. Big or small, make time for some training of any kind from 20 minutes upward. This is a habit or a discipline."

Neil says:

"If you're going to treat yourself, don't go overboard with it and make sure you've earnt it with some activity to at least stay in equilibrium at worst."

Josh says:

"Just because those around you are having 'just one more' glass of wine, holiday chocolate or whatever it may be, it doesn't mean you have to as well! Fill up on good, whole foods and plenty of water, and enjoy the treats for the taste without going overboard!"

Vance says:

"Your average glass of wine or shot of vodka has the equivalent empty energy of 20-25gm of carbs. If you're going to have a drink, be prepared to burn that off!"

Scott says:

"Prepare healthy snacks and treats ahead of time to ensure that if you do snack with family and friends, it's on the right stuff! Look to Vision Virtual Training for plenty of ideas and recipes!"

Alex says:

"Write your goals down, both long-term and over the holidays, and put them somewhere you can see them regularly and remind yourself of them. Look at them every day to help keep focused!"

Why sacrifice all your hard work over the holidays for a few glasses of wine or food binges, only to feel bad about it later? If you associate the holidays with always moving away from your Health and Fitness, then something needs to change! Use these tips to help stay on track during your time off, and enter the New Year making progress, rather than undoing damage!
