After being involved in the fitness industry for several years, one thing that I see year upon year is the dreaded weight gain over winter, it's not hard to see why! The days are shorter, it's harder to get out of bed and motivation can be hard to find.

It doesn't have to be this way!

Below are 3 inspirational ideas to help you get motivated and stay motivated through the colder months.

1. Don't snooze! Get out of bed as soon as you hear your alarm, let's be honest the extra few minutes really doesn't make a difference. Every minute you wait you're giving your brain time to talk you out of getting up and training. Get up straight away and get to it before you talk yourself out of it. A great way to make this more exciting, is to make your alarm your favourite song to workout with, this should kick start the motivation.

2. Find an accountably buddy. It's not hard to let yourself down, but when you've made a commitment to someone else to get in to the Studio you're much more likely to get in for those early morning sessions because it's in our nature not to disappoint anyone. It's doesn't matter if your accountability buddy is a friend, family member or your PT as long as you have someone that is going to keep you accountable.

3. Set Goals. Sure, everyone has long term goals but fewer people have short term goals and even less know what they need to do on a weekly basis. When you're setting your long term goals the first thing you need to do is make sure it has meaning behind it. Once you have decided on your goal and a date that your like to have that goal achieved, by working your way backwards, find out what you need to do every week in order to hit your goal. This gives the training you need to do much more meaning, helping you stick to your plan.

Before you know it, the colder weather has passed and you are on your way to your summer body.
