If we were to tell you to manage your health and fitness in the same way you manage your money, you might think we were mad.

But when you break it down into the different ways we transact with our banks - through a process of withdrawals and deposits - it starts to make a bit more sense.

Still not quite clear?

Managing your health is all about making those deposits on a regular basis to build up your balance, and keeping withdrawals to a minimum. You want to ensure your health bank isn't getting overdrawn and is, in fact, thriving.

So what do those withdrawals look like?

These are the factors that will detract from your health and wellbeing. Stress, lack of sleep, poor nutrition, alcohol, sugar, chemicals and toxins all fall into this category.

Although there are probably no surprises in this list, you need to ask yourself how active you are in keeping these to a minimum.

At the other end of the spectrum are the deposits - the good things we do for ourselves on a daily basis. These can include getting enough quality sleep, implementing a nutritious diet, ensuring optimal hydration, taking exercise, getting enough recovery after exercise, and even some meditation and supplementation.

In a nutshell, it's all about lifestyle. It's about preparing for the future. It's about being good to yourself.

So, in the same way you keep an eye on that bank balance, stay in tune with your body. It might be trying to tell you something, and you'll want to catch on before you go into the red.
