I joined Vision in November 2016 not for weight loss but to become fitter, move more, learn new skills and develop new sustainable exercise habits that would enhance my wellbeing and stand me in good stead now and for the future. At the time when I joined, I was dealing with particularly difficult issues with one of my children and joining Vision enabled me to do something for myself on a regular basis during the week and I knew I would not be motivated enough to do exercise or attend a gym on my own.
At the age of 51 years young, I learnt to run for the very first time in my life! I can still remember when my Trainer Albert ran/walked/stopped with me for the very first time - seriously only about 500 metres and I cried at the end because I thought I could never do that.
Since joining in November 2016 with the support of Albert and the team at Vision I have done the Mother's Day Classic 4 kilometre run twice, Blackmores 10-kilometre run, Pink Triathlon- medium course, 28 kilometre Seven Bridges walk and 4-day (60 kilometre) hike on the Sapphire Coast. I would never have dreamt I could do any of those things previously.
I am more conscious of nutrition since joining but did not join for weight loss reasons but for lifestyle reasons.
If you are just toying with the idea, a bit scared, don't like gyms and exercise has not been your thing previously, I would encourage you to consider the team at Five Dock Vision. The wellbeing journey starts with small steps and sometimes the hardest thing is to make that initial phone call and just show up for the first time but I can promise you that that you will be welcomed into the community and supported all the way.
Never stop working on being the best version of you that you can be and yes there will be set backs but enjoy moving in the forward direction towards an improved version of yourself.
