Tell us about life before joining Vision?
For my whole life I have always struggled with my weight, maintaining consistent exercise and positive eating habits. I had very little self-confidence which held me back from joining in on events or outings with friends and family and even taking photos of myself. During my gap year after high school, I was unaware how little exercise I was doing and how much/what I was eating and how this was further affecting my health.
What impact has Vision had on your life since achieving your amazing results?
Learning to enjoy exercise again and moving my body in multiple ways. I love going to the group classes and have a lot of enjoyment in learning new exercises such as boxing. I have learnt how to eat the food I enjoy everyday without sacrificing or cutting anything out. I feel so much more confident in myself, my self-esteem has grown which has massively benefited my mental health as well.
What results have you achieved there?
I have lost 15kg so far. I feel stronger and fitter, I managed to run 5km in under 35 min and plan to start building more muscle.
What are some defining moments during your journey?
I think getting under the 80kg mark was the most defining. I don’t remember the last time I was under 80kg, so seeing that number on the scale drop was very significant for me. I had weeks where the scale didn’t move or it went up, and instead of giving up (like every other time I was trying to lose weight) I found that my mindset had begun to shift and look forward in a productive manner to see what I could do differently the next week. This change in my mindset was a huge step for me.
What advice would you give someone who is currently thinking about taking a positive step towards changing their health and fitness?
You really just have to start as soon as possible. I never thought I would be where I am today, I was so convinced that nothing would ever change for me. But here I am 6 months later the fittest I have ever been. But taking the time to improve your health will never be a negative thing. Whether its losing weight, learning about nutrition or building strength, you will always thank yourself for starting when you did.
