A milestone birthday often comes with reflections on life, achievements and health. Kate, like many, had set personal goals and one stood at the forefront for her… to achieve a body weight of sub 60kg before her 60th birthday.

Kate’s goal wasn’t just about the number on the scale. It was about regaining control over her health and well-being. With a starting weight of 66.7kg, she lost 8kg in five months, weighing in at 58.7kg. The challenge was even greater, given this would take place over the Christmas and New Year period, during which she travelled overseas, visiting England, Ireland and Iceland.

Kate knew that success required a disciplined approach to fitness and nutrition. She began her regimen by incorporating weight training into her weekly routine, committing to 2-3 sessions every week.
In addition to her weight training, Kate included paddle boarding and regular walks, particularly with the Vision Walk & Run club which also added a social element to her fitness routine.

Nutrition also played a critical role in Kate’s success. By being mindful of her food choices and tracking her intake, she developed a deeper understanding of her dietary needs. She prioritised increasing her protein consumption, which not only aided her muscle recovery from workouts but also helped her feel fuller longer. 
Moreover, Kate recognised that one of her challenges was her relationship with alcohol. She worked hard to reduce her intake, making more conscious choices.

In addition to shedding 8kg, Kate reduced her visceral fat from 11, which was in the over range, to an impressive 8, placing her well within the balanced range. She also improved and reduced her bio age from 58 to 55, paving the way for a healthier future, as well as her overall health score, which jumped from 66 to 73. 
These results represented not just weight loss, but a holistic improvement in her well-being, energy levels, and mental clarity.

Kate O’Brien stands as an inspiration to others who strive for personal health goals, especially those who face challenges along the way. Her journey shows that with perseverance, discipline, and a clear vision, transformation is possible, even during the busiest and most tempting times of the year.
