Client from Bangor | Trainer: Luke Christopher
About 10 years ago I was pulled aside at the Red Cross Blood Bank and told I couldn’t donate, but should immediately see my doctor. When I saw my doctor, he said I was pre-diabetic and that I needed to change my life style, but aside from saying I needed to lose weight, he gave me little assistance on how to do it. Luckily enough my daughter suggested that I should join the gym she was a member of at the time, Vision Personal Training, which I did, and while initially I was just looking at how to lose the weight, which I did quickly, I started to learn about how to live a much healthier lifestyle. This involved not only better nutrition, but being more active, and enjoying it. For years, I’d concentrated on work, family and rushing about, but never really considering what it did to me. Aside from my PT sessions, I joined into the group sessions, and became part of the community. At the suggestion of my trainer, I started doing some running, which lead to various running events and festivals, and gradually to a new healthier lifestyle. In the 8 years since starting running, I’ve ran over 7000 km and 1000 different sessions, which equates to a run every 2-3 days and an average of 7 km/run and includes 4 marathons (42kms), multiple half-marathons (21kms), and regular 5 km Park Run events. But more than that I now see this as my normal lifestyle, much healthier, which has my doctor happy with my health statistics for over 5 years now, and still enjoying being part of the Vision community.
